A new series featuring reflections on writing from the famed writer.
I had not read Stephen King’s memoir On Writing for several years when it occurred to me to do so again. While at it, why not share reflections from the renowned writer in a weekly Sunday series at Go Into The Story?
King is a prolific author. Fair to say that is an understatement. One need only glance at a roster of his written works to determine that. If any contemporary writer has earned the right to reflect on the craft, it would be King. However, that is not…

Winterlight Pictures has acquired the rights to vampire thriller spec script “Dark West” written by Richard Kadrey. Via The Wrap:
“Dark West” is a vampire revenge thriller set on the highways of Texas that follows two car thieves who accidentally T-bone a pair of vampires in the middle of the night. The story is in the vein of the classic ’80s horror films “The Hitcher” and Kathryn Bigelow’s “Near Dark.”
It is an option deal. Kiah Roache-Turner has been brought on to adapt the screenplay with the potential to direct the movie.
Kadrey is repped by Paradigm.
By my count, this is the 7th spec script deal in 2021.
There was 1 spec script deal year-to-date in 2020.

The movie version of the opening:
The movie has a LOT more exposition tying the story to the movie Annabelle.
Per Wikipedia:
The two main films and its five spin-offs have proven themselves to be successful at the box office, having combined earnings of over $1.8 billion worldwide, against a combined budget of $139.5 million,[9] making the Conjuring Universe the second highest-grossing horror franchise in history and one of the most critically acclaimed.
