Allison, I concur. It’s CRITICAL to understand where the Protagonist begins (Disunity), where they end up (Unity), and the process of how they get from one psychological state to the other (Deconstruction — Reconstruction).

NOTE: This assumes their arc is a POSITIVE one. That’s not always true as the Protagonist can have a negative arc, resist change, they are the story’s change agent, etc.
