Blake, I found the script pretty "trackable," but I saw the movie before reading the script. Without watching the movie, I'm guessing I would have had an experience close to yours.

Re dual protagonists: Who do you see as the two Protagonists? As I say, there's no right way to use archetypes in analyzing scripts. In my view, Evelyn is the Protagonist and Joy, who dons a nemesis mask and a trickster 'mask,' is ultimately revealed to be an Attractor character. She and to a lesser degree Waymond are the two characters most connected to Evelyn's emotional growth.

Could one make the argument that Joy is one of two Dual Protagonists? I suppose so. Another thing I always say: Each character is the protagonist in their own story. And Joy does go through a psychological metamorphosis.

But I'm still sticking to the idea that Evelyn is the Protagonist and Joy is an Attractor.

More to come on that later this week in the Character discussion.

Thanks for your comments, Blake. Feel free to lay out your thoughts about the story as having a Dual Protagonist structure. I'd love to hear that perspective.
