Cameron, I agree with this. In early drafts, especially first draft, it’s critical to ‘feel’ your way into and through the story-crafting process. And *then* you can step ‘outside’ the story universe and work on it “more analytically.” We need to do both: Go into the story and do that intimate and direct engagement work, and go *outside* the story to shape the story structure.
