Deadline, along with Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, are all owned by the same entity: Penske Media. Since they rely heavily on advertising $$ from studios (and other reasons), they generally are in bed with AMPTP.

Deadline is a bit more complex. They really gained a foothold on the Hollywood media front covering the 2007-2008 WGA strike and, as with the Strike Talk podcast, have occasionally demonstrated an awareness of the Guild's position on things.

But yes, generally speaking, any article in the trades about the strike or labor-related issues has to be viewed as AMPTP influenced. That's why we rely on WGA communications for where things stand from the writers' perspective.
