Gary, thanks for that. Ultimately, it all comes down to a writer finding and exhibiting their voice on the page. And that goes WAY beyond dialogue. How we handle scene description is super important. What I call narrative voice should dictate all of those bits of writing business. Yet another reason to read movie scripts / script by pro writers. That can inform and influence one's writer's voice.
