Great stuff, Kc. I echo your point re the “Obama” lines, used by both Rose and Dean to try to confirm that anti-racist bona fides. In retrospect as events unfold, the references take on deep irony, don’t they.

That last line in the movie is better than the last line in the script: “I told you get the fuck out of that house, man.” Good line, but “I’m TS-motherfuckin’-A. We handle shit. It’s what we do. Consider this situation fuckin’ handled.” It’s a perfect line because it’s very much in the tone of the movie which balances horror and humor so well.

Actually, “We handle shit. It’s what we do” is a great mantra for screenwriters. We solve problems, day in, day out. Hundreds of times when we write a script, we confront story problems. Then solve them. Studio or producer has a trouble script? We get hired to “solve that shit”. So if you don’t mind, Kc, I’d like get on board with you in embracing that line as part of what we do.
