Groundhog Day. The Edge of Tomorrow. Happy Death Day. The TV series Russian Doll. Each of these feature a character stuck in an endless time loop, imprisoned to reliving the same day, over and over. Palm Springs? Same thing. There is one difference: In Palm Springs, it's *two* characters trapped in the time loop (Russian Doll does the same thing). Actually three, if you include Roy.

How do these projects keep getting produced if they have pretty much the same central conceit? The Edge of Tomorrow is science fiction and Happy Death Day is horror, so one trick: different genre. However, Palm Springs is a comedy like Groundhog Day. So why did Palm Springs sell to Hulu for a reported $22M at the Sundance Film Festival, then a record sale?

One, it's funny. Two, the pair of leads, Nyles and Sarah, prove to be a winning couple. And three, it's just a really well written screenplay.

I look forward to diving into it this week and welcome your reflections on the Palm Springs script.
