Here is a plot synopsis provided as part of the film's marketing materials:

At a fading vacation resort in the late 1990s, 11-year-old Sophie (Frankie Corio) treasures rare time together with her loving and idealistic father, Calum (Paul Mescal). As the world of adolescence creeps into view, beyond her eye Calum struggles under the weight of life outside of fatherhood. Twenty years later, Sophie’s tender recollections of their last holiday become a powerful and heartrending portrait of their relationship, as she tries to reconcile the father that she knew with the man she didn’t.

Here are some comments about the plot from Jacobo, who compiled the scene-by-scene breakdown:

I would highlight these plot points:

• P33–34. “I think it’s nice that we share the sky” scene.

• P37–40. During the hotel conversation, Sophie confesses that she wishes Calum and her mother had gotten married, a common feeling among children of divorced parents.

• [Midpoint] P64–67. Calum’s story about his 11th birthday.

• P73–76. Karaoke night where Calum is unable to join Sophie in singing ‘Losing my Religion’ like they do every year.

• P97–98. Last night’s dance intercuts with the rave.

I'll follow up with my comments.
