It is daunting, Michael, there’s no way around it. And the best thing for an aspiring screenwriter to do is start developing / using professional habits NOW. This was advice Lisa Joy (co-creator of the HBO series ‘Westworld’) gave one of my classes when she visited several years ago: Before she broke into the business, she started applying herself to the craft as if she were already a pro writer. Great advice and it certainly worked for her!
