Joni, Ed’s tweetstorm also made the rounds of pro Hollywood writers and *they* all applauded it as well. Ed’s take is akin to what I’ve discussed here on the blog as Inside-Out writing, where we as writers go into the story (ahem!) and immerse ourselves in the lives of our characters, and the plot emerges from those interactions. As opposed to Outside-In writing where the writer manipulates characters and plot to fit some preconceived paradigm or structural formula. The old adage: Character = Plot. It’s true!
