Jorge, with all due respect to your friend, I’m with you. There’s conflict from the very first minute. We don’t know why, but Ray is a boiling mess of emotions about something that has happened in his recent past (we only learn later of the accidental killing of the boy). Ken and he have tension which escalates over time to the point where they are gunpoint with each other. Conflict oozes throughout the story.

I’m curious what your friend means by ‘conflict,’ perhaps his definition is different than ours.
