Kevin, given your long history writing screenplays, you know what I'm talking about in terms of how scripts used to be written. But as I note in the series, screenplays are always in a state of evolution. And for several decades, screenwriters have either commented on the action in scene description or even dipped into the inner world of thoughts and emotions of characters in scene description. That is a tool in our screenwriting toolbox, so anyone who says you can only write what an actor can do or say, they are wrong. One need only read contemporary movie scripts to see the truth.

That said, as noted in the article, you have to be JUDICIOUS. The world of a screenplay is primarily an externalized reality and that's where our focus needs to be. However, there are key moments in scene description in which can comment on action or reflect an inner thought or feeling of a character.
