Kevin, that is an obvious issue: By breaking up scene description into shorter paragraphs, you run the risk of adding pages to your script. I say ‘run the risk’ because what I have discovered is I tend to be even MORE rigorous in my editing. I examine every single line of scene description, indeed, every word, to make sure it is ESSENTIAL.

There’s no rule to say you can’t write paragraphs of scene description with 5, 6, 7, lines or more. I note that in the article. However, speaking as someone who reads a LOT of scripts, it makes reading more difficult. Plus, I like adding more white space to the page, simply from an aesthetic standpoint.

But write how you see and feel it, whatever the best way to tell the story, that should be the guiding light.
