Laura, thanks for hitting the high points of the story's plotine. Your take highlights something really insightful. Look at each sentence of your description from Act 2 on. Notice something? Every single sentence begins with the word "Jean." That spotlights nicely the fact this story is *ALL* about Jean's journey, both physical and psychological.
It occurs to me: Is there a scene in which we do *NOT* see Jean? I would not be surprised if her character has a part in every scene. That is how much the narrative focuses on Jean and *her* experience.
NOTE: If there *are* scenes where Jean isn't present, they are few and far between. Again, this is her story, her journey, her metamorphosis.
