Nikhil, I do think there’s value in thinking of three or four act structure, sequences, and the like. As noted in the series of articles, whatever approach to screenplay structure one uses, the key is how one gets there. In my experience, the smart play is to begin and end with the story’s characters, trusting that the Protagonist’s psychological journey will drive the story’s physical journey including key events and even the function of key characters who emerge in the story-crafting process.
