Rose and Cameron, you’ve zeroed in on what I think is the central theme of the story: Who am I? Who are we? Ron had to bump up against the racism and bigotry of the KKK in order to compel him to reflect on what it means to be a black man in America. Patrice figures into this equation as well.

Similarly, Flip has to confront his Jewishness and consider how that may / may not play into his own psychological journey.

In my view, all movies pose this existential question of the Protagonist: Who am I? It’s why the events of the Plotline as well as the characters with whom the Protagonist intersects emerge into being — to compel the Protagonist to confront their existential being.

We these questions raised and confronted in BlacKkKlansman.
