Same here, Roo, although I have to say I am constantly amazed at how time seems to ‘stretch’ when I’m confronted by a tsunami of writing, teaching, and creative tasks. That said, saying no can = creating more time. And time is a major asset for a writer.

Funny, I just remembered a friend whose house I visited years ago. A writer, I saw her study and she had tacked up at her desk in big black letters the words “NO” and “YES”. When asked about it, she said she had the word “NO” there to remind her it’s okay sometimes to just say no. And “YES” was there to give her confidence to say yes to projects even if she felt it would be something that might challenge her in a big way. Hadn’t thought about that in years. Makes sense, now that I think about it…
