Solid analysis, Cameron. I think the thing which separates the movie from other rom-coms — apart from its Asian dynamic — is the plethora of subplots. Lots of cross-cutting and apart from the Astrid-Michael subplot which is both ‘distant’ from the Plotline, yet most closely related to the Rachel-Nick storyline, they provide more in the way of entertainment than insight into Rachel’s development.
