Tara, I’m not a big videogame person and certainly not of the combat types, but based upon your description of The Last of Us, it sure sounds like 1917 echoes the structure of, at least, that videogame.

I’ve read a few interviews with Mendes and he has not mentioned being influenced by videogames, but perhaps subconsciously, if not officially.

In any event, an interesting insight into the story.
