Thanks for those comments, James. What you're suggesting is what stand-up comics call 'reading the room.' Every night, a different audience. Similarly, every generation of script readers, development executives, and movie and TV audiences is different. As screenwriters, we need to be cognizant of that and bring that awareness to our approach to screenplay style.
