That’s pretty awesome, Joni. One of my colleagues here at DePaul does something similar. She assigns students a budget, a star, and a genre. So, for instance:
$2M, Brie Larson, Thriller.
They have 10 weeks to develop a story and write an entire feature-length screenplay.
I believe the three elements are drawn randomly. And you can change one element, then you’re given another story bit to work into the plot a la airplane, elephant, etc.
Since it’s a zero draft, it’s a great exercise in just writing and working within certain perimeters.
But I like your version of it. And a tip of my hat to your husband for supporting your creative endeavors this way.
