Tola, this is a great take and I think you’re right: the central theme of the story is, “Anger begets greater anger.” Your list of examples points that out in impressive fashion. In this respect, the movie echoes the Coen brothers whose stories are often infused with the dynamism of violence which can lead to unintended consequences.

The fact that the central theme of the story is uttered by Penelope, who otherwise comes off as an air-headed individual, is both funny and ironic.
