Wilder is absolutely my favorite director and The Apartment is my favorite movie. He was so story and character oriented as a director. Set the camera and let the scene play. And such range! Film noir, drama, comedy… especially comedy and different types. And as you note, Steven, many movies he wrote which he didn’t direct. Incredible talent.
