Will, that’s a great list. It reminds me of that adage that there are basically two kinds of stories: “A man goes on a journey… Or a stranger comes to town.” That latter part got me to thinking about movies like The Music Man, Needful Things, and others where townspeople’s lives are changed by the arrival and influence of a stranger.

There’s also contained thrillers like Rear Window and Buried, and horror versions of the same like Paranormal Activity.

These movies are not only interesting and entertaining in and of themselves, they also serve as a reminder of the importance of the psychological journey of our story’s characters.
