Zach, I’ve never heard of a situation in which a manager sought co-writing or story by credit with one of their writing clients. Even studio executives who generate the original story idea do not seek writing credit. It’s just assumed it’s part of their job.
But to your point, yes, writers must be careful. And if a manger *were* to ask a writer for shared credit, I would recommend quitting that manager and seeking another rep.
